The original Hermès Kellydoll bag, also known as Quelle Idole, was first introduced in 2000. It was derived from a drawing sketched by Jean-Louis Dumas, former CEO and chairman of the Hermès Group. The Kelly Doll name is a play off "Quelle Idole", which is a French expression that translates to "what a doll!". It originally debuted in in eight colorways: Orange H, Rouge H, Noir, Noisette, Bleu Saphir, Vert Olive, Vert Cru, and Rouge Vif and discontinued in 2005. Collectors immediately jumped at any opportunity to acquire each color and making it a must have in any collection.
In 2022, the Kellydole Picto bag was introduced as a modernized edition of the original playful creation. The new version features mosaic style facial features and pixel art hands and feet. Additional welcomed changes are an optional shoulder strap and backpack, which should fit most cell phones, that can be attached and detached from the adorably cute character. The refreshed Kelly Doll is available in two colorways: Mauve Sylvestre and Nata.
