A wonderful Art Nouveau era, repoussé locket, modeled in 14k yellow gold, whose subject is a lion sitting in profile amid a clutch of tall grasses. Our lion is realistically rendered, with a snarling, focused expression; his long, wavy mane mingles with the graceful blades of grass that surround him, and he holds a sparkling, prong-set, old mine cut diamond in his mouth. This lion scene decorates the front side of the locket, edge-to-edge— the image is in beautiful condition, and it is especially lyrical! The locket's backside features a simple moated edge. The bloomed, high-color surface of the locket is in excellent condition with little-to-no rubbing. This is among the best animal-themed lockets we've seen— the lion in profile is unusual, and we love the elegant composition of the scene, wherein he lies in wait for his prey, or waits-out his adversary! This locket is fitted with a single photo ring.
